PBIS Kickoff

Yesterday we had a blast at our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System) Pep Rally.  The students learned how they could earn red tickets for our classroom by using STAR behavior.   By earning red tickets our class has a chance to win some awesome prizes.   Be sure to ask your child all about ways to earn red tickets.   Also make it a habit to ask, "Did you earn a red ticket today?"

Making Ten

Today in math we worked in representing addition and making a ten.   The students started out by showing each added in a different color.   Below you will see the representation of 9 +8.
Then we took one counter to the top tens frame to make ten.   Now they can see 10+7 which they can do in their heads instead of having to count on their fingers.
Here's another example...8+8
Then we moved two counters up to show 10+6 to get 16 in our heads without having to count each counter.

Goodies with Grandparents

I loved getting to meet and talk with our grandparents this morning.   What a special time to spend together!!!

Hatcher Gardens Field Trip

What an awesome time we had today on our field trip!!!   I was able to tour the gardens with some terrific young men.
We had a great time touring the gardens and learning about the different plants.   We learned how they grow and why the gardens were formed.

We had fabulous parents that volunteered to help us!!!  Thank you so much Mrs. Posey, Mrs. Smith, and Mrs. Crowe.

We enjoyed a beautiful picnic lunch...
Then we headed back to school.

Thank you for allowing us to enjoy this time together!!!

Who's ready for a Hockey Game?

The Greenville Swamp Rabbits (formally known as the Greenville Road Warriors) has issued a challenge to all students.  It is called the "Six for Sticks Challenge".  Students must read 6 books in 6 weeks. The books must be dated after September 7th.  This can be books that are 100 BC books, library books, or books you have at home.  A log for these books is in your child's binder today.  These need to be filled out and returned no later than October 16th.  As soon as they are completed, please go ahead and send them in.  Attached you will find another copy of the letter and the log.  I hope all will participate so that we can have a great time at the November 14th hockey game!!
