THUNDERCAKE
During our study on severe weather we have been studying thunder and lightning. We also read the story THUNDERCAKE by Patricia Polacco. The kids were all hoping to try THUNDERCAKE so Mrs. Violett graciously made THUNDERCAKE cupcakes for us to enjoy!

I Wonder
Today we were able to visit the Womder Room. We used this time to explore the properties of liquids. We learned that liquids pour, liquids take the shape of their containers, and that some liquids will not mix.
To learn these things we performed two experiments. In the first, students were shown the following containers.
They were asked which container had the most, which had the least and which had the same amount. They had to explain their reasoning behind their answer. Then we measure the amount in each container. See the video below to see what they discovered!
The next experiment was to see if liquids would mix. We used oil, water, and syrup. The students poured the liquids and then took turns stirring until they thought everything was mixed.

Wonder of the Day....Why Does It Rain?
Today we visited the Wonder Room to explore the question: why does it rain? The students worked through the scientific process to explore what happens when a cloud gets heavy with droplets.
